Silicon Valley life

Alright, here we go...

Alright, here we go...

Here I am sitting in my apartment in the heart of Silicon Valley. I work and live in Mountain View now, but it doesn’t feel too different so far from the East Bay. This is the only part of the Bay Area that I haven’t lived in yet, and consequently I only know a few people here and my knowledge of the area does not extend much beyond University Ave, Castro St, and Santana Row. Honestly though, I just got back from a big trip abroad and I anticipated that my new rotation (AT&T U-verse field operations manager) would require strenuous hours (it has so far), so I haven’t given my new location and lifestyle some thought.

If anything, I should be extremely excited. I’m in the center of technological innovation; nowhere else can I find this concentration of cutting-edge ideas and young, brilliant people. I’m still in the Bay Area; I was thoroughly enjoying my adventures and lifestyle before I took off for vacation and I don’t buy into my own excuses to not resume it. And if my personality gets its way, I will need to quench my thirst for exploring a new area, for meeting new friends, and for having fun times in general.

So with that, here is my list of personal goals for the next ten months:

• Establish social circles with technology professionals (and do happy hour!!)
• Learn about the tech industry, startups, and entrepreneurship
• Make new friends and hang out with people from Stanford
• Try different restaurants here and also find the best frozen yogurt shop in the area
• Explore San Jose, plus check out the nightlife options in the South Bay
• Still stay connected with my friends who are mostly in SF and East Bay
• Consistently hit the gym and eat healthier
• Take a class for fun if I have time when next quarter/semester rolls around

Despite the 6:30am-8:00pm hours on most days and having to work one of the weekend days every week, I hope I will be able accomplish all of the above. I hope you will be able to join me in doing so, or at least let’s go grab lunch or dinner. I look forward to it!
